Her dissertation, entitled “Human Factors in the Design of Chatbot Interactions: Conversational Design Practices”, was defended in January 2023 under the guidance of Professor Edna Dias Canedo. The Júnia Coutinho Anacleto Prize is awarded annually to outstanding work that demonstrates originality, impact and methodological rigor in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
Geovana's dissertation stood out for its significant contributions in offering user-centered guidelines for the design of conversations with textual chatbots, an increasingly relevant area in the context of interactions with artificial intelligence. Through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), Geovana's study identified and codified linguistic, visual and interactive elements that directly influence the user experience. The result was the creation of a practical and flexible online guide to support designers in building conversations for chatbots, improving usability and user engagement.
